> Information for the Florida Tourist
Will I require
any vaccinations to travel to Florida?
No immunizations
are currently needed to travel to the State of Florida.
Do I really
need a travel insurance policy?
Travel insurance
covers you for cancellation or interruption of your trip, emergency
medical care and lost/stolen luggage. Before you decide on a travel
insurance plan read the fine print and ensure that it caters for
all your holiday requirements. e.g. some may
not cover you for scuba diving, winter sports etc. If you
have a fully refundable airline ticket, you may decide that you
would not need trip cancellation/interruption insurance.Major credit
cards may also provide additional travel insurance, if you have
used them to purchase the tickets for your trip.
Your health
insurance may provide certain coverage, regardless of where you
travel. But it is very important to note that some policies only
partially cover medical expenses abroad. It is important that you
read your policy thouroughly.
If I fall
ill or have an accident, will I get hospital treatment?
Obtaining medical
treatment and hospital care can be costly for travellers who are
injured or who become seriously ill overseas. Check your health
insurance/travel insurance policies to see what is covered. You
may wish to consider purchasing supplemental insurance to cover
medical evacuation.
Do I need
a doctors note to take medication abroad?
If you go abroad
with preexisting medical problems, you should carry a letter from
you doctor describing your condition, including information on any
prescription medicines that you must take. You should also have
the generic names of the drugs. Please leave medicines in their
original, labeled containers. These precautions make customs processing
easier. You may also require a doctors note if travelling while
heavily pregnant.
